Vida Kids
Vida Kids is a childrenswear and lifestyle wholesale agency, representing a variety of boutique and up-and-coming brands from around the world.
Established in 2003 by Gemma, their services have evolved to include distribution services for some of their brand clients. Vdepot supports Vida Kids with this by managing the storage, order fulfilment and dispatch of wholesale orders from their buyer network.
We asked for Gemma’s perspective on choosing and working with Vdepot.
“We met Vdepot at a trade show a few years ago, back when we were still a few months away from launching the distribution side of the business.
“Tash and I swapped cards and got talking from there. We had a few informal chats about fulfilment and how Vida Kids might approach the logistics aspect of this new side of the business. It was good to understand how Vdepot’s service worked and their pricing structure well in advance.”
Vida Kids formally began working with Vdepot in 2022, in the lead-up to launching their new distribution operation.
“We did speak to one other fulfilment company that a couple of our clients use, but we ultimately went with Vdepot. Their prices were very similar, but we picked Vdepot because of the rapport we built with Tash over those few months. She just made us really comfortable with everything and so I think it was more a case of being able to talk with her and we felt she was a better fit for us as a company.
“We made the decision about 3 months in advance – I like to be organised!”
Vida Kids found the set-up easy and seamless.
“From the get-go it’s been really simple for us and our clients, no teething issues, no stress.
“When you change distributors, clients can be a bit apprehensive and worry if things are still going to work the same, but it was a seamless transition.”
2 years on, Vdepot dispatches thousands of products a year on behalf of Vida Kids.
Outsourcing their fulfilment has given Vida Kids the time, headspace and confidence to distribute more products and try more ecommerce channels, including Amazon.
“Because everything has worked so well and efficiently, it has made our customers really comfortable because with the old distributor the old system was really antiquated. It’s given them a lot more confidence in the product and the brand because they’ve moved to a system that’s a lot more efficient. Retailers have got a lot more confidence working with us.
“It’s our first venture into distribution so that can be daunting, but working with Vdepot has taken the pressure off for us which has been really good.”
The Vida Kids team knows they can call us if they need to.
“We can check on most things through the system, we only really need to get in touch if we have an urgent question or notice anything wrong that’s time-sensitive or can’t be explained in an email… in which case I can pick up the phone to Marilyn or she picks up the phone to me. But you know there haven’t been many issues at all, it’s not like I’m on the phone every 5 minutes!
“Tash and Marilyn are amazing, they always get straight back to me, I never have to chase on anything. And nothing’s ever a problem. I really enjoy working with them, they’re just brilliant.
“Whenever we have retailers over here in our showroom, if they ever mention fulfilment then we always recommend Vdepot.”
